Spicy Swedish Stew

Yum, yum, Spicy Swedish Stew from swedish interior design… being Swedish I throw a stick of cinnamon, a couple of aniseeds  and generous amounts of ‘all spice’ into nearly everything … here I have browned 10 shallots, 1 garlic bulb, (peeled and chopped into thin slices), handful of fresh rosemary and spices mentioned above in an oven proof cooking pot…..  I have then thrown in my stewing steak with a little seasoned flour, brown a little and then add a little red wine and throw in your chopped veg and potatoes … Now add rest of wine and 1 tablespoon of blackcurrant jam …. I always use one and a half bottles of wine with a little stock and cook in oven on 160f  for 3 – 4 hours covered …. a little trick if you don’t have red wine..  only white … add a few more tablespoons of blackcurrant jam or cranberry jam to richen it ………
